ALM 43 : Self Doubt, Fear & Boundaries In A New Relationship

September 14, 2016

In the coming weeks, my fiancé, Joe Moffett, and I will be teaming up to build the Master Life By Design brand together.  We’ll be starting out by offering a relationship course.  In the spirit of this partnership, today Joe is joining me to talk about self-doubt, fear, and boundaries in a new relationship.
When you’re starting out in a new relationship, it can be difficult to determine if the self-doubt and fears you may be experiencing are your vibes trying to guide you or if it’s simply a trigger caused by an old belief pattern.  Your intuition may be saying one thing, yet it’s not backed by evidence.  So how do you know for sure?
Truthfully in new relationships, there are plenty of moments of uncertainty at the outset.  In order to manage these moments, you first must have clarity.  Are you clear on who you’re getting into a relationship with?  Do they fit what you’re looking for?  Do you even know what you’re looking for in a partner?  This is critical to setting yourself and your relationship up for success.  After all, how can you possibly reach your destination if you have no idea where you’re headed? Get clear on what you’re looking for in a partner and be sure that you’re seeking partners who meet your criteria.
Another important consideration is opening yourself up in a new relationship.  If you want to experience love, you have to lay down all your weapons.  If you have your defenses up, it’s going to be hard to find love.  Self-doubt comes when you’re in your head.  This voice will be screaming at you.  Watch and listen to your intuition.  This voice will whisper from the heart.
Another important element of new relationships involves boundaries, both spoken and unspoken.  When beginning a new relationship, establish “rules of the game” between you and your partner.  After all, you can’t expect somebody to read your mind.  If you want something in a relationship, speak up about it.  If you don’t have this understanding, insecurities or lack of trust will show up and threaten the relationship.
Many people bring baggage and disempowering beliefs from their past relationships.  This is not fair for either party.  Give yourself permission to unload this baggage and go through the healing process of forgiveness.  You wouldn’t be where you are today without everything that happened to you in the past.  Instead of carrying this baggage to protect yourself, take a leap of faith to open yourself up to your new partner.
Lead with an open heart, not with fear.  Be clear on what you want.  Trust your vibes.  Love yourself and know your worth.  Check your baggage from past relationships at the door.  Following these key ideas will help you find the loving relationship you seek.
