Partnerships: Why What Happens at Home Helps Women In Tech Part 2

September 18, 2019

TechCast hosts Christina Greysman and Janet Schijns dig into parenting, partnership and building confidence for women in tech in part two of this sit-down interview with their husbands. In this deep dive into the experience of women in tech, the couples discuss encouraging curiosity and competitiveness, instilling awareness and pride in everyone’s successes.

Software engineer Lev Greysman and Roy Schijns of the JS Group open the conversation by outlining how they view their parental responsibilities and splitting up household jobs. “It’s about flowing into where you’re needed rather than doing some division of labor,” said Lev Greysman.

The group talks about being role models in culturally non-traditional roles. Together, they underline the need to identify and eliminate societally gendered tasks in marriage and parenting, not just in the professional sphere.

“In order for women to feel comfortable pursuing our careers and advancing our careers, to have a spouse who is confident being a parent — that’s a big portion of it,” said Christina Greysman.

Listen for their conclusion that a redefinition of teamwork in marriages is part of the evolution towards genuine equality. Subscribe to the Women TechCast for part one of this conversation and all the episodes featuring women working in technology.
