February 15, 2021

At NAMM 2021, Yamaha showed off two new keyboards in the YC73 and YC88. These are ready for stage keyboards with many sounds at your fingertips. This is also a keyboard which can cater to the organ player.

These keyboards join the YC61, which was introduced in 2020. The keyboards have balanced, weighted keys (73 keys in the YC73, and 88 in the YC88), and weight for the organ feel.

About the YC73, YC88

These are sturdy keyboards meant to be used in live performance settings. The YC88 contains natural wood keys with triple sensor action gives the player a feel of a grand piano, including the speed of and response. THe YC73 has a balanced electric piano action key layout, whereas the YC61 gives you the authentic waterfall keyboard action.

The keyboard interface is set up for easy changing of the sound. Using many authentic samples from the Yamaha library, you can create your own sounds and splits with multiple options at your fingertips.

Yamaha recreates sounds of vintage keyboards with their Virtual Circuit Modeling effects. If you love the old analog component keyboards, VCM will bring those sounds to the YC series.

Great for Organists

This keyboard also has 9 drawbars, which will help shape sound. A rotary speaker sound gives the leslie feel, with speed change options.

Included in the YC series is the Yamaha FM synthesis. Many love the sounds of the DX7, which you will be able to recreate on the YC series.

The YC88 is $2,999.99 and available now. The YC61 and YC73 are also available for purchase.
