April 4, 2021 – Jeep 4×4 Day | Easter

What's Your Favorite Easter Tradition?

Welcome to April 4, 2021 on the National Day Calendar. Today we celebrate the adventurous spirit and an Easter tradition for everyone.

Few vehicles have carved out a place in American history quite like the Jeep 4x4.  It replaced the horse during WWII and helped the Allies turn the tide!  Jeep’s “go anywhere, do anything” ability personified the American can-do spirit. To our troops the Jeep was second only to their rifle in order of importance. Maybe that’s why it still inspires record breaking feats like the pair of Jeep Wranglers that summited a volcano of more than 22,000 feet.  Or the Guinness Book holder for longest parade of 2,420 Jeeps in Bantam, Pennsylvania. On Jeep 4x4 Day, find out what you’re made of! Get outside and listen to that voice calling you on the next great adventure.

Plenty of people have yelled at kids to get off their lawns, but never quite like Congress did in 1876. Every Easter, kids in Washington, DC had contests where they rolled eggs down hills and Capitol Hill was the best in town. However, the festivities were so disruptive that a law was passed to keep trespassers off the property. Two years later, President Rutherford B Hayes and his wife Lucy invited all the local children to roll their eggs on the South Lawn of the White House. And it’s been an Easter tradition ever since. The ceremonies and circumstances have changed a bit over the years. Kids now use wooden eggs rather than the hard boiled variety, but the contest itself is the same: roll an Easter egg down the hill and have a good laugh about it with your friends. On Easter Sunday, we celebrate many things, but especially our love for the renewal of Spring and the joy we can find through celebrating together.
