Strain Review: G13
The Johno Show guest is Michael Solomon the owner of Easy Butter Maker. Today is strain review day. Here are the top 5 facts of the Cannabis strain known as G13.
Before we get started Michael tell us a little about Easy Butter Maker for all our weedtubers out there.
And as is customary on The Johno Show we light up before counting down!! So let’s do it!!
Fact Number 5: History & Lineage
Last week, when I was in Florida, we reviewed OG Kush, which had mysterious origins. Well here I am again in Florida again and wouldn’t you know it today’s strain is also clouded in mystery and myth.
G13 was allegedly created by the CIA and FBI at a super-secret location at the University of Mississippi when they were working with native Afghani weed for “medical” purposes. Some believe it was the product of the NIDA Drug Supply Program. The story goes that a single cutting of the plant was liberated by an unnamed technician and bred for the masses.
Allegedly the G in G13 stands for Government Indica Strain.
In 1999 the super-strain was featured in “American Beauty” when Lester Burnham played by Kevin Spacey acquires some from next door neighbor Ricky Fitts played by Wes Bently.
Fact Number 4: Positive vs Negative Effects
G13 starts with a euphoric lift that hits you hard with a push of energy and even increases motivation. Unfortunately, that’s quickly taken over by a heavy full body buzz that locks you down into deep relaxation lasting for hours. You’re still able to retain a calm, clear head and uplifted mood particularly with a bong.
Medically this strain can be used for Stress, Pain, Depression, Insomnia and to a lesser degree nausea.
Negatives are big time dry mouth and to a lesser degree Dry Eyes, Dizziness, Headache and a slight bit of anxiousness.
Fact Number 3: Sativa vs Indica & THC/CBD Levels
G13 is an indica-dominant strain with 70% Indica / 30% Sativa and 22% to 24% THC.
Fact Number 2: Appearance, Smell & Taste
G13 has a pungent sweet, earthy skunk smell. Some people say it reeks of wild berries making your mouth water. I’m a little concerned because sometimes these berry smelling strains interpret themselves as baby poop for me, since I’m allergic to berries and are never around them to remember what that smell is. But the taste on your lips is supposed to be an unmistakable creamy sweet flavor.
Fact Number 1: You Gotta Smoke It to Know It!
So how do we feel?
