They have been married for over twenty-three years and moved seven times while homeschooling four kids for seventeen of those years. Though they were active Christians, involved in many good things, they found themselves struggling to experience a fulfilled marriage. Well into their long journey, they discovered a breakthrough that allowed them to enjoy the marriage God intended for them all along. Their book, entitled, Empty: A Couple’s Study of Marriage, is packed with Scripture and the accumulation of nearly a quarter of a century seeking to love each other.

Michael and Kim Marquez were both born and raised in southern California. He was a civil engineer (Cal State Northridge) for the State of California and is with a local engineering firm. Kim Marquez is homeschooling the last of their four children. Her major is in Child Develoment from Cal State Northridge. They are members of Calvary Chapel Central Oahu.
