How does God turn family tragedy into hope four thousands? David Benson’s oldest son, who was mixed with drugs, the wrong crowd, and crime, died of suicide. Two and a half years later, his younger son, died in a car accident? Crushed, he made a decision to look at life differently and came up with the idea of a residential drug and alcohol treatment center for teens – the Bobby Benson Center, a place of refuge, help and hope for more than 25 years.
David Benson retired as a Major (division commander) for the Honolulu Police Department and became the Chief of Police in Castleton, Vermont. He worked with the Rutland County Sheriff’s Department (VT) for 10 years before returning to Hawaii. David is on the faculty at the University of Phoenix, teaching Criminal Justice. He earned an Associates in Police Science from the University of Hawaii, a Bachelors in Sociology and Police Science from Chaminade University and a Masters in Education from Castleton University. He is
