One of our strongest convictions is that the more we can keep older adults connected and active, the more likely it is that they can avoid becoming a victim to scams. We encourage older adults to stay active socially and mentally so they can be aware of potential scams and fraud. Isolation is one of the hallmarks of scam susceptibility.
There is a lot of new research being done that shows learning new skills and staying engaged mentally can improve cognitive functioning even as we age. In other words, continuing to learn can ensure a healthy mind. Our guests today have created innovative programs using technology to reach older adults who may be home bound or living in a retirement community.
Ellen Ervin and Lynne Beacher have established the Senior Learning Network providing educational programs for retired adults. We will learn a lot about the programs they offer and the way in which they deliver the programs.
