Description:
The one and only Dr. Ashwin Soni
Dr. Soni is a chief resident in Plastic and reconstructive surgery in Seattle who will be completing his residency in a few months with plans to go on to an advanced microvascular fellowship. Dr. Soni was born and raised in England, he attended the Imperial College London School of Medicine, moved to the US and did a Research Fellowship at Weill Cornell NY Presbyterian Hospital in Metabolic and Endocrine Surgery, completed a 1 year internship at Johns Hopkins in General Surgery before moving to Seattle for Plastics. He is one of the most hard working, inspiring physicians I know. Dr. Soni truly is a beacon of light and while many know him from Instagram, his sole purpose of being involved on social media can be summarized in three words: Inspiration, Honesty, and Mentorship. He openly gives advice on topics like moving to the US for residency, working hard to get what you want, and how to interview to land your top residency/fellowship. In this episode, we dive deep discussing medical school at Imperial College, the differences between the US and the UK medical systems, what hard work means to him, why Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery isn’t what you expect, and what gets him excited to go to work everyday.
