The Scribes thought that they could trap Jesus by asking him about which is the greatest commandment, something that the Jews debated hotly. And as the scribes thought they could trap Jesus to discredit him, they only discover that Jesus again answers with the perfect answer. Jesus explains that all of the law hangs on just one to love the Lord your God.
