Miracles of Healing – Tue – 21-08-03
Do you get requests to pray? Prayer requests are found in many places. Some smaller churches take the requests each week from the pulpit. In many small groups, time is spent during the meeting listing prayer requests and praying over them. I often get requests for prayer via text, email, Facebook and WhatsApp. A church we once attended had a web site where people could post requests and others could view the requests and pray over them.
I’ve noticed that the most popular type of prayer request is about health issues. I’m sure you’ve seen the same thing. So, it should not surprise you that over half of Jesus’ 33 miracles recorded in the Bible were healings. Sometimes it was curing a sickness. Other times it was healing a paralysis or deformity.
In fact, the first healing Jesus performed is recorded in John chapter 4. Listen to verses 46-47, “Once more he visited Cana in Galilee, where he had turned the water into wine. And there was a certain royal official whose son lay sick at Capernaum. When this man heard that Jesus had arrived in Galilee from Judea, he went to him and begged him to come and heal his son, who was close to death.”(NIV)
Now that’s a prayer request! We’re told that Jesus healed the son. This reminds us that we should take our requests for healing to God. He has often glorified his son Jesus through healing the sick.
