The first election’s results, which put Nation Alliance candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu in office overAKP candidate and former Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım, were annulled in May a highly controversial move by Turkey’s Supreme Electoral Council (a move widely seen as being guided by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.)
