Maduro Is In Charge, But For How Long?

After an abortive attempt by political dissident Juan Guaido to wrest the reins of power away from Nicolas Maduro, the situation in Venezuela has gone back to normal. “Normal” in this case being an economy shrinking into nonexistence, the decay of social structures, the violence faced by its citizens, and an outflow of people numbering three million since 2015 (what some consider the worst refugee crisis in the world). For this week’s podcast we spoke with Harold Trinkunas of Stanford University about how Maduro is hanging on — and for how much longer.
