Vigil Chime was born in Nigeria in the late 60s, She  is part of the Igbo Ethnic group. Her family came to the U.S. in the late 70s, and she grew up in Houston, Texas. In 1991, She moved to NYC, to go to graduate school; graduating from Columbia University in 1996. Vigil Chime has a M.F.A. degree with a concentration in Screenwriting.
