Why do Businesses Spend Money?

What is the B2B market? Have you ever really thought about why businesses buy? What are their key motivations to spend money?

Generally speaking, businesses buy for these 5 main reasons:

* Make money/increase revenues* Save money/reduce operating expenses * Provide excellent customer service * Develop/motivate staff* Meet regulations

As business owners, we need to connect with our market’s needs and desires, so it is important to know why your business clients would spend money for your product and/or service. Which of the 5 areas do you provide solutions for?

Why do Consumers Spend Money?

What is the B2C Market? Generally B2C means Business to Consumer sales and is understood to describe or involve the sale of goods or services directly to customers for their own use, rather than to businesses.

As a business selling to consumers, it’s important that you connect at the level that motivates your prospective customers.  You must attract them to your message, not to your product’s specifications. Think about Apple.   Apple has done an amazing job of focusing on the customer experience and rarely talks about their specifications in their marketing material. A great example are their current TV ads

Consumers spend money for the following reasons:

* To meet Basic Needs* To make or manage Money/Financial* To improve Relationships* For their Health * To master and/or enjoy a Hobby* To have Fun!

Where do your products and/or services sit in?
