Holy Spirit Heresy. (260)

March 09, 2020

Or, Holy heresy Batman! Are there two Holy Spirits?

The problem seems to stem from the use of the terms "Holy Ghost," and "Holy Spirit" in the King James Bible. Despite a longstanding doctrine that they describe the third person of the trinity, and both terms are fully interchangeable, false doctrines have sprung up. It's not a new heresy, but modern false prophets disguise the lie in the words of scripture. They play on words that were chosen for literary function over theological meaning, and the fact that words used in 1600 don't always mean the same thing today.

after months of studying theological books on the topic (hence the rash of Holy Spirit related shows), I simply typed this query into a search engine: "why does the King James version refer to the holy ghost and other translations do not?"

The results were varied but summarized what I had already concluded from my many hours of reading and notes.

your hosts, Keith and Nathan are joined by a guest who has been absent from the show for quite some time. Chris, the Wild Moose tries his best to cut in with his brand of humor, but we all take turns reading a statement from one of my web sources and discuss the merits of each. Where deserved, false doctrine and poorly understood concepts from scripture are exposed. Sources range from Billy Graham Evangelical Association to heretical bloggers, to general forums for asking questions, to even the King James translators themselves.

Reference is also made to sources that we didn't have time to present, but offer support for the heretical viewpoint.

Today's show should bring our series on the Holy Spirit to ahead, but that doesn't mean there aren't lots more to present. For now, we'll give the topic a rest, and prepare to move on to other topics.
