Push Play: Young women’s stories of sport and real life
Resiliency
This episode features resiliency - the ability we all have to bounce, fight or come back after facing hardships. For the three women featured on this episode, sport helped them in some way to keep pursuing their goals even at the hardest times in their lives. And that's what sport does - helps us build resiliency muscles. Learning to get back up after falling on the pitch, keep trying to score after missing the net so many times, or not quitting until you get to the top of the mountain, even if it takes 10 times. These lessons we learn on the field can translate to lessons off the field, in our daily lives.
You'll meet Linda from Cambodia who used football to save her from early marriage; Bernadette from Zambia who was afflicted with polio as a child and faced a life of challenges; and Furaha from Kenya, whose polygamous family struggled to have enough for all 22 children.
