We live in a fallen world because of sin, and even as believers in Christ, we can be susceptible to the pitfalls of it. Fortunately for us, the Bible describes a “science” to sin, a pattern in which believers can use to avoid sin and its temptations. Looking to the book of Proverbs we saw the attractive presentation of sin, as well as its perversion of what is good and holy. We were also reminded of the persuasion of sin, deceiving many to believe that there are no consequences to indulging in it. But the Bible is very clear–sin has a punishment, and by the grace of God, Christ came to be the propitiation for sin. By understanding the science of sin, we stand a better chance at avoiding its pitfalls and truly living out the call of God in our lives.
