Despite proclaiming the blessed assurance we have as believers in Christ, Jude reminds us to earnestly contend for the faith by keeping vigilant and not taking for granted the price that was paid for our victory. The sufficiency of scripture and the worthiness of contending the faith from threats both inside and outside of the church are valuable insights that remain relevant today. Biblical illiteracy is on the rise, even amongst self-proclaimed Christians and having a reasonable defence for the gospel is crucial in this day and age when we are being constantly challenged by opposing worldviews. This passage helps equip us with the tools necessary to fight the good fight and guard that which is sacred and true.
