He’s originally from Ireland, and opened Foley’s (18 West 33rd Street, between 5th/6th) 15 years ago. It’s billed as “An Irish Bar with a Baseball Attitude.” Named for sportswriter Red Foley, the establishment boasts one of baseball’s largest memorabilia collections outside of Cooperstown. There are 3900 signed balls in the bar, including one Clancy claims is his “holy grail” (listen to the podcast to find out the signature). Fun fact: It’s also home to the “Irish American Baseball Hall of Fame.” Clancy explains on the episode how that came to be.Foley’s is a great place to watch any game, especially when the Yankees are on.
