Episode 23: Shaun Clancy, Owner Of Foley’s NY!

May 09, 2019

Any podcast that is taped in your favorite bar, interviewing the guy who owns the bar, while you’re drinking a pint from Bronx Brewery… is a good podcast! Our string of fantastic guests continues this week with Shaun Clancy. He’s originally from Ireland, and opened Foley’s (18 West 33rd Street, between 5th/6th) 15 years ago. It’s billed as “An Irish Bar with a Baseball Attitude.” Named for sportswriter Red Foley, the establishment boasts one of baseball’s largest memorabilia collections outside of Cooperstown. There are 3900 signed balls in the bar, including one Clancy claims is his “holy grail” (listen to the podcast to find out the signature). Fun fact: It’s also home to the “Irish American Baseball Hall of Fame.” Clancy explains on the episode how that came to be.Foley’s is a great place to watch any game, especially when the Yankees are on. It’s a great establishment, and you’ll learn why as you hear Shaun talk about his vision for the business, why he recognizes the unsung heroes of baseball and his inspiration behind all of the charity work done at the bar.Foley’s is open 11a-2a daily and the kitchen stays open relatively late most nights. Find them on social media @FoleyNY and if you pop in, find Shaun and say hello. And as always, thank you for rating/reviewing/subscribing!
