Turn Down Stress and Anxiety – The Not NLP Podcast Episode 36

October 15, 2020

Reducing stress and anxiety in yourself and others can be a simple thing to do when you are aware of and make adjustments to the type of language you use.
At times, giving lots of detail helps us to avoid generalising and for communication with others, this can be a very good thing. However, when we are dealing with intense or dramatic situations that require some problem solving, it can be better to minimise what we say. Not just in terms of the level of content, but more so in the weight and size we apply to the problem.
Our brains like to get a sense that a problem is solvable and feel less inclined to face the problem if it looks too complex or overwhelming.
By reframing and making simple shifts in how we communicate a problem, we can reduce the severity of it and feel more empowered to do something about it.
