Paying Student Athletes - Pause. Think. Consider.

October 28, 2016

Jesse Liebman debates the topic of whether or not student athletes should be paid. Recent lawsuits and events have transpired causing this topic to become a national discussion with cases being proposed to the Supreme Court. NIL rights are the main issues that have been discussed, but several factors are often left out when it comes to talking about student athletes compensation. Aside from receiving a scholarship, athletes at the Division 1 level receive a cost-of-attendance stipend, free healthcare, free food, free clothes and a free place to live. Yet, it's not enough, because of the revenue numbers they see their conference, school and the NCAA making. What isn't discussed is how much it costs to fund not only the main sports programs, but all other departments and their programs at the school. So what can be done and what should be done? Find out on this episode of Pause. Think. Consider.
