Maintenance Practice in the Mathematics Classroom
Once acquired, skills need to be maintained in order to move forward with learning. Dr. Paul Riccomini shares insight into why maintenance practice is crucial and effective practices aligned to research.
Dr. Riccomini began his career as a dual certified general education mathematics teacher of students with learning disabilities and emotional and behavioral disabilities students in Grades 7–12 in inclusive classrooms. His teaching experiences required a strong content knowledge in mathematics and the development and maintenance of strong collaborative relationships with both general and special educators. His research focus is on effective instructional approaches, strategies, and assessments for students with dyscalculia and students who are low achievers and/or students with learning disabilities in mathematics. He is currently an Associate Professor of Special Education at The Pennsylvania State University. Learn more about his work here: https://ed.psu.edu/directory/pjr146. Follow him on Twitter @pjr146
