Internet Tax – OHS 122

September 01, 2019

The Internet tax in Coming! There was a lot of talk about it a couple of years ago. Now I notice digital storefronts like eBay, Amazon, and Etsy are charging taxes based on the buyer's location. More and more Internet stores are sure to follow suit. For the first time in almost twenty years I paid a tax on an item I purchased on eBay. Nothing is certain like death and taxes. For the longest time the financial landscape of the Internet was much like the Wild Wild West. Things were bought and sold in the yard sale of cyberspace with no thought of the responsibility of taxes. Give no thought to the global location of purchase, international tax laws, or the line between personal and business sales online. The mainstream global underground marketplace of the Internet is about to be uncovered.

Thanks for listening! I invite you to share this podcast, offer a comment or leave some feedback.

Show Notes:

After buying on eBay for the last twenty years I paid my first sales tax last week.
