Juneteenth NEW Season - Day 1 | Walk in The Word Bible Study Series

June 19, 2020

Hello, Beautiful SOULjourner. Welcome to a new season kicking off this Juneteenth! It's a 22-Day Bible study series, "Walk in the Word" from my book, Healing & Held. Together, let's notice, nurture, and embody radical self-care, healing, and meditation as we take it to the outdoors and walk for justice and joy.

Whether in our triumphs or trials, we can reimagine ourselves in our ongoing healing as we choose redemptive resistance to anything that doesn't flow from the heart of the Beloved Redeemer—Yeshua.

Why it's significant for me to launch this new Bible study series on Juneteenth?
Juneteenth is the oldest national commemoration of the ending of slavery in United States history. Juneteenth was first celebrated on June 19, 1866. In the year 2020, 154 years after that celebration, Black people are still fighting for their independence. We are still living in a country built upon white supremacy.
So Juneteenth is an immensely significant day for me to launch this series and the re-release of Healing & Held in honor of my ancestors, many of whom are theologians, pastors and prophets.

"Juneteenth is a celebration of perseverance in the face of wickedness; of enduring hardness like good soldiers. It is a celebration of making a way out of no way. It is a celebration of remembrance; remembering that words and proclamations, and policies mean nothing unless they are followed by actions. We celebrate because we are still here. We celebrate because no matter what this society has thrown at us we have found a way to not just survive but thrive."  - Rev. Edwin Robinson
