Meet Paul Feilmann, Prison Reform Activist

May 04, 2020

In our quest to better understand the prison system and what it is like to be trapped in the cycle, we chat with activist Paul Feilmann. Recently Paul sat vigil outside Governor Pete Ricketts's house as a way to draw attention to the overcrowding in Nebraska's prisons and juvenile detention centers. He also frequently speaks out against the horrid use of solitary confinement as a way to manage the overcrowding and punish inmates.

Paul is not only an activist but also a volunteer with the 7th Step Club and RISE program. Now retired, he spent most of his career working in human services and the mental health field in Nebraska.

If you missed last week's episode on prison reform, you might want to check it out. Colleen and I dish on some stats regarding Nebraska's prison system and our birth to prison pipeline that seems neverending.
