Midnight Looms 055 – RUSSELL LOUDER – June 15th 2021

June 17, 2021

Our host, GOBS, spent the past week doing a lot of thinking about the recent act of TERRORISM committed in our home city, LONDON, CANADA, along with the PANDEMIC, and came to the studio with something to say that he felt is different and worth while. Tonight, he uses the power of voice and great music to hopefully inspire HOPE. Gobs shares his perspective with the help of a gorgeous Egyptian folk song by JERUSALEM IN MY HEART, a mind expanding essay by radical thinker, ARUNDAHTI ROY, and even some wise words from TOOL’s MAYNARD JAMES KEENAN. All this before we get you pumped and prepped for INDIGENOUS PEOPLE’S DAY and then continue our month-long PRIDE celebration with an amazing special guest.
Non-Binary, East-Coast raised, Montreal based SYNTH POP producer and vocalist, RUSSELL LOUDER, has just an incredible voice. But Russell’s talents go beyond the singing. Their lyrics are beautifully introspective, and the music marries with the vocals more coherently then we’re used to hearing from synth pop acts. We enjoy a set of selections from Russell’s HUMOR album while getting down to some real talk with Russell, who is both intelligent and lots of fun. Gobs refers to them as “the new ELVIS”. Tune in and find out why ;)
