9-15-19 – A MERRY HEART DOES GOOD LIKE A MEDICINE: Serotonin, Dopamine, Endorphins, and the Healing Power of Happiness, Part III
Today’ Notes:
I – “A thief is only there to steal and kill and destroy. I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of.”
(John 10:10 – The Message)
II – “Up to this time you have not asked a [single] thing in My Name [as presenting all that I Am]; but now ask and keep on asking and you will receive, so that your joy (gladness, delight) may be full and complete.”
(John 16:24 – AMPC)
III – “Each happy chemical triggers a different good feeling. Dopamine produces the joy of finding what you seek– the “Eureka! I got it!” feeling. Endorphin produces the oblivion that masks pain– often called “euphoria.” Oxytocin produces the feeling of being safe with others– now called “bonding.” And serotonin produces the feeling of being respected by others–“pride.”
– Loretta Graziano Breuning
IV – “Brain wave tests prove that when we use positive words, our “feel good” hormones flow. Positive self-talk releases endorphins and serotonin in our brain, which then flow throughout our body, making us feel good. These neurotransmitters stop flowing when we use negative words.
– Ruth Fishel
V – “A lot of people forget how taking a walk in nice weather alone is very uplifting. It gets the serotonin working, and it’s not super taxing. It puts life in perspective. You see things passing by and the majesty and timelessness of the world. And it’s totally free.” – Delphine Hirsh
VI – “When you eat chocolate, it can release certain chemicals in the brain that improve serotonin levels to help us feel good, help us feel calm.” – Lona Sandon
VII – “Now, I’m no scientist, but I know what endorphins are. They’re tiny little magical elves that swim through your blood stream and tell funny jokes to each other. When they reach your brain, you hear what they’re saying and that boosts your health and happiness. “Knock Knock… Who’s There?.. Little endorphin… Little endorphin who?… Little Endorphin Annie.” And then the endorphins laugh and then you laugh. See? Its Science.” – Ellen DeGeneres
