Sister Chioma Ahanihu: Lending Your Voice
"God still loves us. even in our own messiness. Even in our own flaws."
Season 2, Episode 10 of Messy Jesus Business, hosted by Sister Julia Walsh
IN THIS EPISODE:
In Season 2, Episode 10 of Messy Jesus Business, Sister Julia Walsh talks with Sister Chioma Ahanihu about what it means to be a Sister, and the importance of authenticity and embodying your personal identity. They discuss how the Black Lives Matter movement after George Floyd's death helped Sister Chioma find her voice in the midst of the mess, when she was part of a protest for the first time.
"It's like there's a point in time in your life that things will keep happening and happening and you feel that you want to lend your voice to that situation," Sister Chioma says. "The events of summer last year awakened some realities in me that I need to begin to really think, process, pray about and live out."
She continues, "I still feel that I need to pitch in my small voice, no matter how little it is."
Sister Julia and Sister Chioma also discuss how the Black Lives Matter Movement challenges Christians to truly hear the voices and perspectives of others, and to serve as companions.
Throughout all of the messiness, Sister Chioma says prayer serves as her anchor. "Everything is messy, and that's why we ask for God's grace every time, to help us get through the events of our life."
