MedicCast Episode 433
Good day and welcome to this week's episode of the MedicCast. I'm your host, Jamie Davis the Podmedic and I'd like to welcome you to this week's show. In this week’s EMS news items we’ll look a several news items for EMTs and paramedics including one story about what you can do to prepare for special needs patients in your community.

Then in this week’s special tip of the week, we have another segment from EMS Today back in February with keynote speaker Gordon Graham on his push to develop systems of accountability in EMS. He also talks about the importance of doing thorough background checks in EMS hiring. Do you think we do enough already? We’ll find out what Gordon thinks later in the show after the news.

Tip of the Week:  EMS Systems of Accountability
(http://www.mediccast.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/justice-scales-gavel-law-300x225.jpeg)At the EMS Today conference in Baltimore this past month, some truly amazing speakers addressed the crowds of EMS providers there. EMTs and paramedics got a real look at what systems of accountability means with a talk by guest Gordon Graham.

Gordon is a former California Highway Patrolman and now is an attorney who educates first responder organizations on how to educate people about being accountable. He is also passionate about hiring good people to do our jobs in EMS and talks towards the end of the video segment coming up about how departments and jurisdictions should be completing full background checks on people they hire. Check out this segment with Gordon next.
