MedicCast Episode 432
Good day and welcome to this week's episode of the MedicCast. I'm your host, Jamie Davis the Podmedic and I'd like to welcome you to this week's show. In this week’s EMS news items we’ll look at how the Houston Fire Department is using mobile telemedicine technology to connect non-emergency patients with physicians in the field.

Then in this week’s tip of the week segment from EMS Today this past February, I bring you an interview with Scott Matin who won an EMS 10 Innovator award this year for his team’s research into how hi-visibility gear impacts safety on highway responses. We’ll find out more about that later in the show after the news.

Tip of the Week:  Using Hi-Vis Clothing on EMS Scenes
(http://www.mediccast.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Traffic-Accident-Icy-Road-300x201.jpg)At the EMS Today conference in Baltimore this past month, the best of the best in emergency medical services were recognized at the annual EMS 10 Awards ceremony. Scott Matin and Peter Dworsky were recognized for developing an educational video detailing the need for emergency personnel to wear high visibility safety apparel.

EMS Garage host Chris Montera interviewed Scott Matin about the project and the impact it has had on the department at MONOC EMS. Scott and Peter are winning their second EMS 10 Award. They previously won an award for research into how far siren sounds traveled while driving and the penetration into today’s soundproofed and sealed automobile interiors.
