In honor of Black History Month, this special edition takes a different perspective as Winn Claybaugh interviews natural hairstylist, educator, and braid specialist Kamilah Gerestant, whose credits include Madonna's Madame X tour and Beyonce's Black Is King project, and professional beauty industry leader and beauty school owner NeCole Cumberlander. Their conversation about the history of Black hair, the 2019 CROWN Act campaign to end race-based hair discrimination nationwide, what Black women have endured for decades by trying to "fit the standard," and the natural hair movement, is educational and profoundly enlightening.
