001 How To Travel Solo with Lisa Eldridge

July 22, 2018

The most dangerous moment in any overseas trip.  The digital nomad scene in the Canary Islands.  WarChild.  Remote Reiki.

Lisa Imogen Eldridge is a forty-something divorcee who changed her life and left everything for a life back on the road. Lisa is a freelance travel journalist and runs the award winning Girl about the Globe, a travel resource site for the conscious solo female traveller. Her aim is to change the way that women travel and to show that solo travel isn’t as scary as people think.

Lisa is from a small seaside town in the south of England and has been travelling and living in different places since she was 21 years old. She has travelled to 113 countries and 73 of these solo. She makes her living as a travel blogger which helps to sustain her never-ending wanderlust.

“Travel is in my blood so I guess I can call myself a travel addict, I’m drawn to emerging destinations which I don’t know much about and love learning about the different cultures. I’m a bit of an introvert and sometimes experience social anxiety so if I can travel the world solo then anyone can."

"I created Girl about the Globe to show women what it is really like to travel alone, beyond the pretty Instagram pictures. We show the local issues in each country, recommend tours and accommodation which have been used by other solo travellers and show organisations which are helping.”
