Hello 2021

Hello 2021

Damn if 2020 was a rough year all around. For starters, I lost my dear mother, aunt, and uncle all within a few months of one another. Yeah man, that shit was tough on your boy. But luckily, I have good people in my corner that helped me during that dark time.

2020 showed us all who is riding with us and who was along just for the ride. Going into 2021 many are changing up their focus and working on their mental health.

One thing is that when this pandemic is over.

I know I am going to value and treasure spending time with my friends. In-person rather than via text or video chat. I bet everyone is going to open their doors. Get up off the couch, especially since we spent the last year binge-watching everything under the sun.  And I think many of us have the new year’s resolution of getting rid of this pandemic weight. Time in sweats, tights, and yoga pants.

During this pandemic, many of us got the time to work on those hobbies that were on the back burner. Learned a new skill or got that business started. Those of you who did, congrats that’s what’s up, and for those who didn’t… what are you waiting for? Another pandemic?

The holidays hit different during 2020

Many of us couldn’t visit or spend time with family like during years past. Some got creative and did the whole Zoom conference thing. Others opted to get tested for COVID-19 and did a much smaller family gathering once the negative tests returned. Nonetheless, holidays and gatherings in 2020 were different from years past.

My family opted to do the Zoom conference and my lady. And I just celebrated with her father and kid sister since we are pretty much in the same household. But still, it wasn’t quite the same.

Now that 2021 is here

I plan to put more things out there. As the past year has shown me that time waits for NO ONE! And with that said I stopped with the excuses as to why I couldn’t do this or that. And started to make actual plans to get things Poppin. For starters, there is this podcast. My partner G’Jurel always said I should do a podcast just sharing stories from my past. We thought about adding it to our existing podcast: BOREDinDE. But after really thinking about it. I thought it is best to create an entirely new podcast to share those stories.

The Karaoke Machine

Speaking of which I bought my lady a karaoke machine for Christmas. She is a huge fan of karaoke. And we hit a karaoke spot perhaps once or twice a week (pre-COVID of course). The pandemic hit and places got shut down and had significant restrictions on occupancy. I figured she would love to have her own karaoke machine and sing her heart out. Boy, I was right; she had a few family members over for New Years’, and everyone sang their hearts out. A much-needed good time to get the new year started off right. I got a chance to smoke a cigar with my nephew and a good friend. We had plenty to eat and drink. Hands down it was one of the better New Year’s Eve celebrations I’ve had pandemic or otherwise.

It was hilarious to see my nephew (who is more like a brother than a nephew). Going at it with one of my lady’s karaoke friends. Those two were at each other’s necks (in a playful way of course). You would have thought they known each other for ages. The way they were going back and forth fussing with one another.

Our Karaoke Family

Then another singer/karaoke friend who is going thru a divorce. Had her new friend over. (well we all know him, but he is new in the sense of being with her on an intimate level). And once that ball dropped. They became two teens who discovered the art of kissing, man were they going in. My nephew suggested that they get a room, which had the whole party laughing including them two.

The Ball Dropped

Also, why when the ball dropped my lady went from celebrating to clean-up mode. I mean she was grabbing empty cups, plates, and bottles and wiping down the table and putting up food. I had to tell her to chill. With her doing all that it was making it seem like we were trying to put people out LOL. Her being her she couldn’t stop. As she cannot go to bed with what she calls a ‘dirty house’. After a few moments, everyone started to help with the cleanup process. Our one friend said, ‘damn woman, this place doesn’t even look like you had company over’. Yeah, my lady goes full OCD when it comes to cleaning up.

The Wrap Up

Things went on for about another hour and change. It was time to wrap things up for the night. And since my lady went and cleaned during the last hour and change. It was just a matter of people getting their coats and saying happy new year and goodbyes.

All in all, it was a great night with great friends and family.

Hello 2021 let’s make it better than 2020 alright, okay!
