Expense Of Raising Homes Along The Shore
Everyone who lives near the ocean or the bay knows that we have a bad storm and flooding about every twenty years.
Some people want their shore houses built on pilings. However, others like me would rather pay for major repairs and improvements every twenty years, than walk up and down an extra set of steps every day.
At one time, Americans were free to decide what kind house we lived in. But not any more.
If you live in any shore town from Brigantine to Cape May, you may not get a permit for new bathrooms or a new kitchen unless you first spend another seventy-five thousand dollars to raise your house fourteen feet off the ground!
