JFD591: Eyes of a Stranger, Fatal Exposure, Wes Craven's New Nightmare

October 29, 2021

Happy Halloween, Junkies! It's the final week of Schlocktober and we've got the perfect mix of movie chats and funny goofs to spice up your holiday. As demanded by YOU, the listener: it's Slasher Week! And we're joined by friend of the show JUSTIN! Up first! It's 1981's Eyes of a Stranger, the Miami-set slasher that features SFX from an young-ish Tom Savini and silent terrors from a young Jennifer Jason Leigh. But how many translucent masks does it really contain? Donloyd and find out. Next up! Those wacky folks who brought you The Wonderful World of Disney and Faces of Death II (really!) bring us the highly-erotic and super-gory Fatal Exposure (from 1989). This film is considered essential viewing for fans of nipple torture, face melting, and portrait photography. Plus, it's got a hunky soap opera guy playing Jack the Ripper's great-great-grandson or something like that! Finally! Of course, it's 1994's Wes Craven's New Nightmare, the movie that ruined Freddy Krueger for one of your three hosts. But which of the hosts?! The best way to find out is to listen (the worst way is reading tea leaves). All this plus Kevin's in beast mode, fictional belltowers, Sean runs down his weekly viewing, the official assessments of quality for Dune and Halloween Kills, videostore names, amateur-grade podcast host skills (at best), minor Gonzo background chatter, Parker's affection for Fred Durst films turns out to be steeped in irony, the dangers of being within earshot of a rotary telephone, no funny raggamuffins, nerd news and even more! Recorded live-to-tape on National Kiss a Wrestler Day, 2021!! Direct Donloyd Here Got a movie suggestion for the show, or better yet an opinion on next week's movies?
