Heidi Harris Show Podcast #172: Do what you can with what you have, where you are

September 05, 2019

Teddy Roosevelt was quoted as saying, “Do what you can with what you have, where you are”. Great advice, and something I continue to tell myself when I don’t have the all tools I think I need to succeed. Like most people, there are aspects of my job that are out of my control.
Whether you’re a politician, a general, a musician, or a talk show host, you will at times be hindered by disinterested staff, small budgets, or poor leadership. And if you’re a person like me, who wants to make everything better, that can be a tough pill to swallow. If your name is on the show or the building, it’s worse.
Learn to do what you can with what you have, and smile when you’re asked about things you have no ability to correct. And a glass of wine might help.
