Wounds of War w/ Suzanne Gordon – Ep 46

June 07, 2019

Suzanne Gordon, journalist and author of “Wounds of War - How the VA delivers health, healing, and hope for the nation’s veterans”, joins us for a discussion on her book and all things veterans health.  We discuss the nation’s veteran suicide epidemic, with the understanding that only 9 million of America’s 22 million veterans qualify for VHA (healthcare arm of the VA) care, meaning 14 out of 20 veterans who take their lives couldn’t have received help from the VA.  We also discuss the fear surrounding the MISSION Act (now the umbrella for all the VHA’s community care programs), wondering how much of a blow it may cause to VHA care as a whole.
