About Katya:
Katya Gabeli is a musician with a classical background. At the age of 16, a few years before graduating as a violinist in her hometown of Moscow, she started as a radio DJ. After 8 years on air Katya moved to the Netherlands where she got her degree at the HKU High School of Arts and where she eventually began freestyling on electric violin during DJ-sets, integrating her classical skills into dance music.
Katya has played in NL and abroad, including gigs at ADE, Extrema etc.
As a producer she's constantly experimenting, going from house music collaborations to underground electronic music, dub step, D'n'B, classical, jazz music and back, with releases on labels such as Mantra Music UK, Chord Marauders, Mindstep Music, Acker Records, Doppelgaenger, Budenzauber and Tretmuehle.
Among other the projects Katya has worked on as a violinist/composer are Leon van der Zanden's show Vruchtvlees (music and audio editing) and the award winning documentary "Against All Elements" for VPRO Television.
