Deuteronomy means, “second law”. It’s a book that reviews all the laws God has given them. These laws were set in place to help the people and strengthen their faith in God. The people were going to come up against many things in Canaan that would tempt them to turn away from God. So as Moses prepares to say goodbye to the people, he reminds them of God's love and faithfulness.

“I, even I, am he, and there is no god beside me.”Deuteronomy 32:39
