The Israelites are moving through the land, taking over tribes, and instilling fear into the king of Moab and Midian. They approach Balaam, a self-proclaimed soothsayer, and ask him to curse the Israelites so they might defeat them. God has other plans for Balaam, however, and uses Balaam's donkey to teach him a very important lesson.
