RULED ACCIDENTAL: Kenneka Jenkins & Tamla Horsford

September 29, 2021

In this week’s episode, Erika brings us two cases that have been heavily disputed as to whether or not they were homicides or accidental deaths. Black women experience the highest rate of homicides in the US, with only half of their killers being arrested. Though these killings are so common, they often go unheard. Erika tells the stories of Kenneka Jenkins and Tamla Horsford, two women whose deaths were ruled accidental. When the families don’t agree with the police’s decision, they become desperate for answers, and desperate for their voices to be heard. Listen to the stories of these women, and look into the following resources to amplify the stories of missing and murdered black women and men across the country. Their stories deserve to be heard.
