A Quest to Rehumanize Politics with Steven Olikara (2008)

October 28, 2020

In this episode, Sue Suh (1992), Chief People Officer for TIME, joins as host to talk with Steven Olikara (2008), Founder and CEO of the Millennial Action Project (MAP).

The Millennial Action Project has an audacious mission: activate young leaders to bridge the partisan divide and transform American politics.

“Bridge building isn’t rocket science, it’s much harder,” he says, but by creating a new consciousness of empathy in our democracy, he believes it is possible, and that young leaders can be the catalyst to make it happen. “This is not about meeting at the 50 yard line. It’s about moving on to a new field altogether.” Steven says.

Listen as Sue and Steven talk Jazz and how it relates to politics, bond over the Select Committee on the Modernization of Congress, and discuss how to be true to yourself when others try to put you in a box. Steven shares some of his musical talent, too!

The episode is introduced by Ericka Jones (2011).

The SIP, short for the Coke Scholars Ignite Podcast, shares a taste of the Coke Scholars around the world who are igniting positive change.
