The SIP is back for Season 2!

Chantelle George (2006), founder and CEO of her own higher education consulting company, starts us off with a bang, interviewing Derrius Quarles (2009), author of Million Dollar Scholar and Co-Founder & Co-CEO of BREAUX Capital.

From growing up in foster care to winning over a million dollars in scholarships, Derrius understands the importance of financial literacy and wellness. In this episode, he describes the moment he realized how going to college could change the course of his life, the steps he took to make it happen, and how he returned to his hometown of Chicago to help others do it, too. After graduating from Morehouse College, Derrius expanded his vision to help not only students achieve financial wellness, but also families, by co-creating BREAUX Capital, the first cooperatively owned and operated financial technology company for Black men. “If your money isn’t right, it’s difficult to get your life right,” he says, and together, they have helped over 30 Black men develop a cash reserve fund to invest in their family’s future.

Chantelle and Derrius also discuss their shared bond as entrepreneurs, 4 important lessons Derrius learned while creating his businesses, and how he strives to “do good” to honor the legacy of his grandmother.
