Going All In: Activating Global Dreams with Developer-Entrepreneur David Akinin (2008)

July 15, 2020

Capping the first season of The SIP is developer-entrepreneur David Akinin (2008) all the way from Windhoek, Namibia, who joins returning host and bestselling author Daron K. Roberts (1997).

David, originally from Venezuela, tells his incredible story full of pivots and transitions – from being kidnapped with his family at just 11 years old, to moving to the United States and attending the University of Chicago, to quitting his job at Credit Suisse to pursue his dream of making home ownership more accessible.

Since moving to Namibia, David has founded two companies –

* Atenu Developments, which builds affordable housing, clinics, and classroom blocks for underserved populations in Namibia, Cameroon, Zambia and Nigeria, and * Emanya Capital Group, which is the private equity arm of his operations and has a majority stake in OperFin, a digital identities and eMortgage processing platform.

Daron and David also discuss navigating a career switch, activating goals with a “go all in” mindset, and the wrong way to network.

The episode is introduced by Justin J. Pearson (2013).

The SIP, short for the Coke Scholars Ignite Podcast, shares a taste of the Coke Scholars around the world who are igniting positive change.
