Struggling with your Faith?

August 01, 2019

In today’s show, I talk about faith specifically I look at 5 areas and ask some questions.
What is faith? This is a question I have often been asked and it is a question I have asked myself.  The best answer I have found if found – Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”  That’s often a difficult concept for us, because we live in a world that if we cannot see something or touch it, we often doubt it’s existence.
Why should I have faith in God? In my case, it is because it helps me in my day to day life – In Job 2:9-10, we read, “Then his wife said to him, “Do you still hold fast your integrity? Curse God and die!” But he said to her, “You speak as one of the foolish women speaks. Shall we indeed accept good from God and not accept adversity?” In all this Job did not sin with his lips.” By keeping his faith, Job was able to overcome the trials and tribulations that Satan was putting him through, and that’s something each of us can take comfort in.
Prepares us for the future – John 14:2-3 “In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. 3 If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.”

When I have doubts does that mean I have less faith? Even the greatest sometimes doubted. Matthew 11:2-3 “Now when John, while imprisoned, heard of the works of Christ, he sent word by his disciples and said to Him, “Are You the Expected One, or shall we look for someone else?” Other than Jesus there were no perfect humans, almost all of us have at one time or another questioned out faith, that does not make up bad people, it simply shows we are human.
How can I strengthen my faith? Do what God wants you to do, learn from those who came before. Genesis 12:1, “Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go forth from your country, And from your relatives And from your father’s house, To the land which I will show you;” God told Abraham to leave, when you follow God and see him come through for you, your faith will be stronger when you encounter your next trial or test
