Dance Your Dream - Cafecito Break Podcast
Our topic today is "Dance Your Dream" with Special Guest Pastor Ben and Gavin Russom.
If I can't dance, I don't want to be a part of your revolution." - Emma Goldman
What does a Pastor, a Curator of Music, and a Shamanic Movement Coach have in common? They are co-creating a "Dance Your Dream Party" with the intention of buidling bridges, creating an inviting unified space, and providing a safe place to dance in the segregated and gentrified neighborhood of Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
The Rev. Ben Mckelahan is an interactive artist, fairy tale writer, and Lutheran Pastor. Since he stumbled upon Lutheranism and Theatre of the Oppressed, Ben has been fascinated with how to use art and games to create a community that embodies God’s unconditional love. Ben serves as the pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
Gavin Russon - is a sound, visual, and music artist, originally from Providence, Rhode Island, he currently lives in New York City. He has also spent a significant amount of time based in Berlin which he considers his second home. From an early age, he became interested in experimenting with sound, image and movement and investigating the territory where the boundaries between them blur. Not surprisingly, his career has straddled many worlds and scenes. Looking beneath genre and the shifting landscape of stylistic trends, Russom's focus is really the vital energy present in all earthly things and the ecstatic nature of reality.
