Better Than Ever Daily
99. Olive oil might help you live longer
If you want to live a healthier, longer life, you might add more olive oil to your diet. In a new study published in Journal of the American College of Cardiology, researchers analyzed data on more than 90,000 people followed for 28 years. Those who consumed more than half a tablespoon of olive oil a day were less likely to die from heart disease, cancer, lung disease, and neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s compared to people who consumed less or none. Olive oil contains healthy monounsaturated fats as well as vitamins, antioxidants, and polyphenols. The study also found that people who consumed the most olive oil were more physically active, ate more fruits and vegetables, and were less likely to smoke.
