How to use Photo Apple Watch Face

December 18, 2020

Apple provides many templates to choose from when customizing your Apple Watch Face. One of your options from the templates library is the Photos watch face. With this watch face, you can choose a single photo or an album of photos that will cycle through each time you raise your wrist or tap on the picture. Here's how to set up and use this watch face.

First, on your iPhone that is linked to your Apple Watch create a photo album including only photos you want to use for your watch face. Get started by open Photos and select all the photos you want to sync to your watch. I'd recommend choosing less than 30 photos, any more and you will start to fill up your watch's storage. Then, click the share button and choose "Add to Album". If you already have an album you want to use select it from the list to add your photos. If you don't already have an album select "New Album" and give it a name. Tapping done will add the selected photos to the new album. To view all of your photo albums, click on the "Albums" tab at the bottom.

Now it's time to move over to the Watch app. Click on the "Face Gallery" tab at the bottom of the app. Then, scroll through the gallery of watch face templates until you find Photos. With this face, you have a couple of customization options. First, you can choose a color scheme. You will most likely want to keep the color on the default which is "Original". Changing this will add a color layer over the image which you probably won't want to do. Now we have to choose our "Content". You can choose "Photos" and individually select the photos you want to use or "Dynamic" which will automatically select recent photos from your library. In our case, we want to choose an "Album", specifically the one we created earlier. Now choose where you want the clock to be either at the top or bottom of your watch? With this face, you have the option of arranging two complications one at the top and one at the bottom of the current time. If the preview at the top looks good click "Add" in the top right to add your new face to your watch. If the Photos face does not immediately appear swipe left and right on your watch to slide between the different faces you may have.

That's it! Check out your watch and see the result. If you want to cycle through the images just tap the watch face.

If you want to edit the watch face, open the Watch app on your iPhone. From the top of the "My Watch" tab select the Photos watch face. There you can customize all of that face's features.

To add or remove photos from the slideshow, edit the album linked to your watch face. Open the Photos app on your iPhone then go to the "Albums" tab at the bottom and select the album you choose to use for your watch face. You can use the select tool to select and remove multiple images from the album. By tapping the three dots next to the select button you can select "Add Photos" Then, pick the photos you wish to add to the album.

This is one of the many ways you can customize your watch face. As you saw scrolling through the gallery you have so many options. This is just another way to personalize one of your most personal accessories. TEST
