Ahkameyimok Podcast with Perry Bellegarde

Episode 8: Dr Kerry Black: The Great Reset and First Nations.

June 05, 2020

The global pause caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has many leaders around the world saying this is an opportunity to change how our economies work in terms of managing climate change, global health and development. Leaders from the UN Secretary General to global corporate CEO's say we have a chance to "build back better," and create a more equitable society. Nicknamed the "Great Reset," what would this mean for First Nations people in Canada, in terms of both infrastructure and leadership? National Chief Perry Bellegarde puts those questions to Dr. Kerry Black.

Dr. Black is an assistant Professor of Engineering at the University of Calgary. An expert on First Nations water and infrastructure issues, Dr. Black has served on the First Nations Housing and Infrastructure Council, and as a special advisor to the Assembly of First Nations.

And a special thanks goes out to the Ahkameyimok Podcast house band, the Red Dog Singers of Treaty 4 territory in Saskatchewan, for providing the theme music for this podcast.
